Giannis Antetokounmpo Teases Strong 2nd Unit as He Declares What Bucks Are Capable of This Season – ‘We’re Going to Be Dangerous’

Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers last month warned his players that his starting five was still not set and nobody knows who will be the starting five yet, probably save for Giannis Antetokounmpo. Their spot in the team until the end of the season is not secured. Looks his challenge was heard clearly as according to Giannis, the second unit during practices have been extra physical with them.

The Bucks are wrapping up their preparations for the new season and capped it off with an open scrimmage witnessed by their fans. They also had a practice over the weekend wherein everyone showed their commitment to the point that they are almost hurting each other.

This has the Greek Freak feeling impressed with the backups.

“This is what I’m talking about; you can ask Coach,” Antetokounmpo said told Eric Nehm of the Athletic. “The last couple of practices, we’ve been getting on one another. It’s been extremely physical.

“Very, very competitive. Our second unit has been kicking our butts. They did again today; they won (the scrimmage) by two.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo says don’t come them out

Pundits are not high on Bucks’ chances. Their main argument is about their weak line-up and the lack of another All-Star level.

They are just from the outside looking but Antetokounmpo sees it differently. He thinks they have the weapons to compete. In fact, he believes they are a dangerous team.

“We’re not the favorites, but we’re going to be a problem. We’re going to be dangerous. The team is set up in a way that is very, very dangerous. We have a lot of shooting. We have a lot of playmakers and ball-handlers. We have a lot of defenders.”

He is specifically confident with the versatility that they have which he says will allow them to play small ball or big.

The Bucks retained their second unit from last season with whom he had success with playing while the starters were struggling. Among them are AJ Green, Kevin Porter Jr., Gary Trent Jr., and Bobby Portis. They also brought in energizers in Cole Anthony and Amir Coffey.
