NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready and prepared for a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Amid the update, several rival teams have reportedly reached out to the Bucks to join the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes. However, one team isn’t looking to make a deal to acquire the star forward.
According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, the San Antonio Spurs are focused on building a competitive team around Victor Wembanyama. There have been talks about the Spurs as a potential landing spot for the Bucks star. Even during the offseason, there were rumors that San Antonio is looking to pair Wembanyama and Antetokounmpo.

On Wednesday’s episode of “The Hoop Collective,” MacMahon revealed the Spurs’ plans amid the Giannis Antetokounmpo saga.
“I have been told by folks with the Spurs that we’re not a home for Giannis,” MacMahon said. “… Everything in San Antonio is about the Wemby timeline, and this is a decade past the Wemby timeline when you bring in Giannis at his age.”
The Spurs reportedly will not be involved in the Giannis trade sweepstakes…

It might be the perfect combination to bolster the Spurs’ frontcourt. But acquiring the star forward would require San Antonio to part ways with some of their young talent and future draft assets.
A former teammate of Giannis Antetokounmpo pointed out how the drama started
Over the previous few seasons, Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks have struggled. However, former NBA player Jae Crowder noted that Adrian Griffin’s dismissal set off a chain reaction in Milwaukee.
“WE WERE 30-13 BTW. TO BRING IN DOC. THIS IS WHAT STARTED THE AVALANCHE,” Crowder posted on X.
The Bucks fired former coach Adrian Griffin halfway through his first season with the team in the 2023-24 season. They were 30-13 at the time, but the organization let him go over an alleged verbal altercation with former assistant coach Terry Stotts. The team replaced him with Doc Rivers; however, the situation did not improve.
The group had a 17-19 record under the new head coach and has consistently experienced challenges. The Bucks have been eliminated in the first round of the postseason for the past three years, two of which are under Rivers
