New York Knicks were named as the target destination of Giannis Antetokounmpo if he ever leaves the Milwaukee Bucks. He did not say it outright. It was NBA insider Shams Charania who floated the rumor that the Greek Freak is planing to leave his team since 2013 rookie year in case he goes unsatisfied with their performance this season.

The Bucks and the Knicks met on Tuesday and Antetokounmpo was his usual monster self, posting 37 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists to will his team to a third team of the season. He scored nine points in the last five minutes when the score was tied at 103.

While his performance as a whole is the most notable, there’s one moment in the third quarter that stood out. They were down 74-79. The two-time MVP blocked a shot by Mikal Bridges, reminiscent of that swat he had against the same player during the 2021 NBA finals versus Phoenix Suns, and then proceeded to clean up the miss by Gary Trent Jr. with a thunderous dunk.
“This is my city!” he declared addressing the crowd as the Knicks was forced to call a time out. This is just him reiterating his commitment that most so-called NBA analysts are trying to ignore.

His next statement was more of an “eff you” to those moments.
“I don’t fk with New York!” he was seen saying in the video.
“THIS IS MY CITY.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo addressed rumors in game
Antetokounmpo subtly addressed Charania’s reports in the past by looking for former NBA reporter Adrian Wojnarowski.
Does anyone else miss Woj?!

That second statement from the emotional sequence basically gave his fans the confidence that Charania’s reports are false or have no basis.
2 weeks ago there were rumors of Giannis wanting to go to New York. Today he’s kicking their ass as a Milwaukee Buck.

Shams tomorrow: “Giannis is telling us he wants to be traded to New York”

Did Giannis just say “this is my city” while playing in Milwaukee against the Knicks 😀

Impossible not to be fired up about the Bucks after that one. Rebounded fast from the disaster quarter, got contributions up and down the lineup, and then your starters walk down the lauded Knicks in the fourth. Professional win. Giannis is THAT GUY and Rollins might be too 👀

Some also came to believe that Giannis is not unhappy with what he got, as opposed to reports by the insiders.
No doubt in my mind this Bucks’ starting lineup is the one. They better not let KPJ get in the way of Rollins, who is such a superior fit with Giannis & so good defensively.
This version of Giannis + this much shooting + pretty good team defense can make a real run in this East.

Reason I was higher on the Bucks than most coming into the year is pace and athleticism. I also think the most important position next to Giannis is stretch 5. I loved Brook (and thought he got a lot of unfair blame), but they needed a stretch 5 that could run with Giannis.
