Golden State Warriors Offer Contract Extension to Role Player After Impressive 2023-24 Season

Golden State Warriors fans know that their dreams of seeing Stephen Curry lift a fifth NBA title for the Dubs would be a thorny path.

Dubs fans are still trying to get used to life without Klay Thompson, though Buddy Hield has been a decent replacement for the former Splash Brother. While they still have Stephen Curry on the lineup, it remains to be seen if he, the rest of the supporting cast, and Steve Kerr has what it takes to help Curry win another title.

While the Warriors’ future is full of question marks, there are some aspects of it fans can look forward to. For example, the Dubs have recently secured the services of one of their key players for longer with a fresh contract.

Shams Charania reported that the former Arkansas Razorback is getting a refreshed contract after a solid 2023-24 campaign where he saw an increased role in the Warriors’ rotation:

The deal isn’t massive is you consider how well the league’s top stars are being paid nowadays. However, Dubs managed to secure an outstanding role player who can help the second unit fare better against their opponents.

Moody has developed into a decent role player for the Golden State Warriors, averaging 8.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 66 regular-season appearances. He’s also been a reliable threat from three with a career 3FG% of 36.2.

While he’s not counted on to become the talismanic role player for the Dubs, it wouldn’t be strange to expect him to step up even more in the coming season. He’s been on a continuous upward trend in development over the past three years, which convinced the Warriors to extend his stint even further.

If everything goes extremely well for Moody this season, seeing him compete for a spot on the starting lineup wouldn’t be strange. Regardless of what happens this season, the Warriors keeps an important rotation piece on their roster for longer.
