Since arriving in Dallas, Anthony Davis has struggled to catch a break. Ongoing inconsistency from the Mavericks, combined with Davis’ recurring injury issues, has already pushed the star big man into trade speculation despite not yet completing a full season with the franchise.

Now, those trade rumors appear to be gaining real attention. NBA insider Chris Haynes reported Friday that the Golden State Warriors are weighing the possibility of pursuing Davis, though any deal would likely require the involvement of a third team to appeal to Dallas.
“I was told [the Warriors are] contemplating making a case to acquire Anthony Davis as well,” Haynes said. “And so with that being said, I was told that Dallas was not that fascinated with what Golden State has on its books. And so if the Golden State Warriors did really want to make a true play at Anthony Davis, they will likely have to acquire some more assets or involve another team.”
The Warriors are considering exploring a potential trade for Anthony Davis.

Haynes also pointed to the Atlanta Hawks as another team closely monitoring Davis’ situation. He added that Atlanta may possess the type of assets capable of making a deal realistic.
“Sources tell me that the Atlanta Hawks remain very intrigued with the possibility of acquiring Anthony Davis via a trade,” Haynes added. “Now, the Hawks, out of all the shooters out there that are interested, the Hawks, they possess a pretty attractive asset package, right? That could make things interesting.”
Dallas originally acquired Davis in a blockbuster deal that sent Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris to the Lakers in exchange for Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick. Since that trade, Davis has appeared in just 27 of a possible 67 games.
Anthony Davis Expected to Miss Time as Trade Rumors Intensify
The renewed trade buzz surfaced shortly after ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Davis is expected to miss additional time due to a groin injury. The Mavericks have reportedly adopted a cautious approach as they continue to monitor his condition.
“Mavericks star Anthony Davis has sustained a minor groin strain and is likely to miss a few games, sources tell ESPN,” Shams reported. “Davis, a significant trade target, will be evaluated daily. Mavs have taken a cautious approach with injuries, specifically for Davis, and will continue to do so.”
Davis exited Dallas’ 126–116 loss to the Warriors on Christmas Day and did not return. He logged just 11 minutes of action and finished with three points.
AD has already missed 16 games this season. This latest setback also complicates his future in Dallas that could ultimately result in a trade should the Mavericks decide to move forward.
