Steve Kerr is entering the final year of his contract with the Golden State Warriors, and many are wondering what he’ll do next after he decided not to pursue an extension this offseason.

Kerr said before that he’ll take his time to come up with a final decision, whether to extend his stay or not. However, he recently made it clear that he won’t coach another team besides the Golden State Warriors, at least in the near future.

“Management and ownership would have to want it to continue,” Kerr said via ESPN’s Anthony Slater. “I would have to want it to continue. Steph would have to. I’m not finishing my contract and saying, ‘Alright, I think I’ll go leave for such and such job around the league somewhere.’ That’s not happening.”

Golden State Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. recently said that it’s up to Kerr whether he wants to stay. But if it were up to Dunleavy, he would rather have Kerr coach the team for at least a few more years.

Golden State Warriors News: Steve Kerr calls Al Horford the “perfect fit”

The Golden State Warriors pursued Al Horford in free agency this summer because of his ability to stretch the floor and defend, and head coach Steve Kerr believes that such an addition would only help the team.

“I think every player in the league would love to play with Steph Curry… I think it’s a perfect fit for us. And we were thrilled that he (Al Horford) felt that way and wanted to come here,” Kerr said about Horford via Willard & Dibs.

“He does such a good job terrifying every team in the league every time he moves. That’s something I’m going to really take advantage of,” Horford said of having Stephen Curry as his teammate.
