Draymond Green only played 19 minutes in the Golden State Warriors’ 121-110 home loss against the Boston Celtics on Thursday evening, and head coach Steve Kerr hinted that this may be the norm for the rest of the 2025-26 campaign.
Green only had two rebounds and three assists while missing all seven of his field goal attempts. The Golden State Warriors eventually closed the game with a lineup of Brandin Podziemski, Al Horford, Gui Santos, De’Anthony Melton, and Pat Spencer.
“We may not close with Draymond. We might close with Al, Kristaps, maybe both of them, and Draymond has accepted that. He and I have talked about this, and he’s handled it unbelievably well,” Kerr shared on the Willard and Dibs show via 95.7 The Game. “He said, ‘I get it. If you don’t close with me, I’ll be alright. I’m gonna stay ready.'”
Kerr also revealed that Kristaps Porzingis could soak up more playing time amid Green’s reduced role. The former Boston Celtics center had 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field in 17 minutes off the bench during his home debut with the Golden State Warriors.

Golden State Warriors News: Stephen Curry drops encouraging injury update after Boston Celtics loss
The Golden State Warriors badly miss Stephen Curry, who has been on the sidelines for a while due to a lingering knee injury. Speaking to the media on Friday, the four-time NBA champion discussed his current status.
“Feeling good,” Curry told NBC Sports Bay Area in an exclusive. “I mean, it’s not going the way that I wanted it to, but I think we’re in the right direction of getting back out there as fast as possible.”
“The goal is to be healthy come playoff time and be available when it matters most. Obviously, I’d love to be playing right now. If you’re healthy, you’re able to play. I’m headed in the right direction, and hopefully it won’t be too much longer,” he added.
