Jonathan Kuminga’s contract situation with the Golden State Warriors is settled after the forward agreed to sign a two-year, $48.5 million deal yesterday. However, another negotiation process is on the horizon, as Steve Kerr enters the final year of his current contract with the team.

Speaking during Media Day, the Golden State Warriors head coach said that he is not in a rush to negotiate on a new deal. However, if he can have it his way, Kerr is keen on extending his stay with the organization.
“I’m very comfortable going into the season with a year left. I’m so aligned with Mike (Dunleavy) and (owner) Joe (Lacob). We talked about this– there’s no reason for discussion or concern. This is kind of a point in our relationship where let’s just see how it is at the end of the year,” Kerr explained via ESPN’s Anthony Slater.

“I love what I’m doing every day. Hopefully, I’m here for another few years. But I think it makes sense for the organization and for me to see where this thing is at the end of the year– where they are and where I am. Hopefully, that means we run it back, we keep going with this group. That’d be awesome. But I like the fact we can do it how we want it,” he added.
Golden State Warriors and NBA fans have mixed feelings on Steve Kerr’s potential final year
While most NBA fans acknowledge that Steve Kerr has been one of the league’s top coaches in the past few years, they believe that next year could be the right time for him to walk away from coaching.

“Seems to me the Warriors have a tendency to make the easy things extra hard for no reason. I’m sure Kerr wants lots of money, but he’s worth it, has earned it, and the Warriors print money with that arena. Why play hard ball with Kerr?” a fan chimed in on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“Everyone should appreciate this season as it will most likely be the last as we have ever known it.”
“Honestly, getting Kerr back would be good. Warriors wouldn’t be the same without him, he’s a part of Warrior’s history.
“If he gets deep in the playoffs they’ll resign him, if not they’ll realize what we all been knew, he ain’t shit it was all Mark and the players as of late,” another fan added.
