According to reports, the Golden State Warriors made a move on Paul George before the nine-time All-Star decided to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers in a landscape-shifting $212 million deal.
Draymond Green has now confirmed these reports, while also throwing shade on the Los Angeles Clippers for pretty much blocking what would have been a blockbuster trade deal to the Warriors.

Green admitted on a recent episode of his podcast that he’s feeling “a little salty” about George signing with the Clippers. This is because according to the former Defensive Player of the Year, George would have been a Warrior by now if only LA came to the table:
“Paul George was gonna come to the Warriors, and we wanted George to come to the Warriors,” Green said. “… The Clippers didn’t really want to play ball. Didn’t really want to help him get to where he wanted to go, and so in turn they get nothing back. Whereas you could have gotten something back for George walking, they get absolutely nothing back.”

That indeed would have been nice. However, as Green said, he also understands the optics, which is probably one of, if not the biggest reason why the Clippers did not want George to move to a team that was in the same division. Not to mention the potential matchup nightmare should they face off in the postseason.
What could have been.
