Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams has been out due to a torn ACL he suffered in November 2024. More than a year has passed, and he still hasn’t played again. Fortunately for fans who are waiting, Williams announced on his Instagram stories that he’ll make his season-debut in three days.
Amid his return to NBA-level competition, Williams has dedicated time to knee rehabilitation. He had knee surgery after suffering the devastating setback. 14 months later, the 6-foot-6 forward has started to tease fans about a potential return to action
Some reports during the summer indicated that Williams was making progress in his rehabilitation. On Wednesday, he’s given fans something to look forward to. He shared an altered picture of himself as Batman with a countdown to his comeback on Instagram.
After this, fans clowned him on X about his potential return.
“A countdown nobody asked for,” a fan said.
“To do what exactly?” another fan commented.
“lmaooo, nobody even noticed he was gone,” one fan said.
“I promise you no one is scared 😂” someone commented.
“Where has he been? Honestly I forgot about him, I’m not even 100% sure what team he is on,” a fan commented.
“Return of Great Value Dillon Brooks 😂” a fan commented.
Last season, Grant Williams appeared in only 16 games before he was injured. He averaged 10.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

Grant Williams may not be a star player in the NBA, but he can still add value to any team, especially to the Hornets. Charlotte has a promising young core of LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller and Kon Knueppel. The trio has all the talent and star quality an organization can ask for. However, they need someone with a deep playoff experience to guide them.
That’s where Williams can make an impact. Before his stint with the Hornets, the forward was a productive role player with the Boston Celtics, the team that drafted him. During his time in Boston, he was part of four deep playoff appearances. That includes an NBA Finals appearance in 2022, when the team lost to the Golden State Warriors.
Williams knows how a team can reach that level, and his experience can usher Ball, Miller and Knueppel.
