Just when things are starting to look good for them, Memphis Grizzlies have to be hit with a colossal injury report. Zach Edey is set to miss up to four weeks after suffering an ankle injury.
It is unknown when the injury occurred as the sophomore 7-footer has been splendid since he returned to the team after failing to start the season for the same injury.

Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey will be re-evaluated in four weeks with a stress reaction in his left ankle. “This is a management plan to optimize Zach’s long-term health in consultation with the Grizzlies and medical experts,” Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells ESPN.

Charania added that it is a minor injury and it is more about for the future.
“Following this step, the short- and long-term prognosis for Zach is excellent,” Bartelstein added. Edey has averaged 16.5 points, 14 rebounds and 2.2 blocks over the last 6 games, with Memphis winning seven of its last nine.

Grizzlies have been playing great lately, having won 5 of their last six games. They are 9-2 in their last 10 and they are doing that even if they are still without their star Ja Morant.
Edey is in the middle of all this. He sets personal record and wills his team to victories.

Zach Edey has been consistent
Edey is a double double machine this season. He currently averages 13.6 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. He also blocks 1.9 shots per outing.
Those are not just empty stats. His play impacts winning as observed by many analysts.
Zach Edey’s injury news is a bummer. He’s been great. Ja Morant is returning soon tho.
Grizzlies have won 7/10 without him. Playing with pace + ball movement. If he screws it all up, and they go back to playing slow and stagnant, it’ll be obvious they need to explore Ja trades.… pic.twitter.com/Tk7eLxirYB

Clutch Sports found out an amazing stat about Edey, something that puts him above the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, basically everyone in the league. This is why him missing games will hurt big time for coach Tuomas Iisalo. The publication wrote:
The young center has an on-off point differential of 26.8 points. Memphis outscores teams by 18.3 points with Edey on the court and losing by 8.1 points when he is on the bench. It’s the best in the entire league, even above Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jalen Duren and Aaron Gordon among others.

For now, Grizzlies will either turn more to Jaren Jackson Jr. Jock Landale, and Santi Aldama to make up for the absence of Edey.
