Ja Morant was an enthusiastic and willing cheerleader in Memphis Grizzlies win over the Washington Wizards on Friday. Yuki Kawamura will continue having a great hype-man on the sidelines as the team confirmed injury to their superstar.

The two-time All-Star is announced as week-to-week as he recovers from a strained hip, an injury the Grizzlies attributed to one play in their win against the Los Angeles Lakers last Wednesday.
“While attempting to catch a lob during the third quarter of the November 6 game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Morant was destabilized midair by a Lakers player, causing him to fall into extreme right hip flexion. Imaging revealed a posterior hip subluxation (without dislocation) along with multiple associated Grade 1 pelvic muscle strains,” the announcement reads.

The referees did not blow their whistle on the play, a decision many Grizzlies found outrageous and now, they are calling for review and punishment for league officials behind the non-call.
Morant has been playing like a man on a mission this season, averaging 20.6 points, 9.1 assists, and 5 rebounds per game.
Ja Morant return will remain unknown
Head coach Taylor Jenknis previously provided a glimpse on how many weeks Morant could miss due to the injury.
He suggested that they can only confirm his star player’s status once consultations and testings are done.

“The hamstring was more kind of in the moment. Initially, that was where he was feeling it. After some further evaluation, he felt it more in the hip,” Jenkins said before the tip off of game against the Wizards.
“He had imaging done yesterday, and we are just kind of going through the consultations with the doctors. He has a follow-up consultation tomorrow, and then we will have a better idea of what the timeline looks like.”
With Morant out, Scotty Pippen Jr. is expected to play a more active role in the point guard position. He made a good account himself last game by posting his first career triple double.
