Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant hasn’t played basketball since Jan. 23 due to a left elbow sprain. Now that the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend concluded, he was expected to return to the lineup. Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, Morant will remain out for two more weeks.
According to a report from the team, Morant continues to experience discomfort in his elbow. Because of this, he will continue to miss games and be re-evaluated after two weeks. The star guard has struggled to remain available for Memphis, only playing in 20 games for the 2025-26 season. His stats have declined as a result of the injuries; he now averages 19.5 points on 41.0% shooting.
Following the report from the Grizzlies, fans expressed their thoughts on Morant’s injury.

Here are some of what the fans said about Ja Morant.
“Ja Morcant part time nba player,” a fan said.
“Holy hell u cant make this up,” another fan commented.
“Ja played this last game for the grizzlies already,” one fan said.
“JA chose street clothes over full time 🏀” a comment read.
“Yo get ja off my team immediately,” someone commented.
“2 weeks away from being 2 weeks away,” one fan pointed out.
Cedric Coward defended Ja Morant
Ja Morant has been criticized for his off-court actions, which have affected his image. Grizzlies rookie Cedric Coward, however, stood up for the NBA star and defended him. On Tuesday’s interview with Sam Yip of HoopsHype, Coward spoke highly of the veteran player and shut down the negative narrative.
“If you want to say all the negative connotations about him, you’re dead wrong and you need to keep your thoughts to yourself. Ja is one of the best people I’ve ever met. One of the best people to be around,” Coward said.

Coward also said that Morant is always cracking jokes, and he admitted to having a great time with the two-time All-Star. According to the Grizzlies rookie, the media’s portrayal of him is inaccurate. That may be the case, but he will never forget the mistakes he made in the past that shaped his current perception.
