The Houston Rockets notched a 127-100 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday evening to wrap up their three-game homestand and improve to 5-3 to start their 2024-25 campaign.

Fred VanVleet led the way for the Houston Rockets with 21 points, seven rebounds, 10 assists, and two steals and shot an incredible 10-for-11 from the field in 25 minutes of action. In doing so, the one-time NBA champion became the first guard since 2003 to have at least 20 points, 10 assists, and five rebounds while shooting at least 90 percent from the field since Steve Francis, per StatMuse.
Jalen Green also had 21 points, while Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith Jr., and Dillon Brooks added 16, 12, and 10 points, respectively. Tari Eason and Jock Landale combined for 23 points off the bench.

This is a solid turnaround for Fred VanVleet since he struggled with his shot a few days ago, going less than 30 percent from the field against the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, and the Golden State Warriors.
Before this Wednesday’s win against the San Antonio Spurs, VanVleet went 8-for-14 en route to recording 19 points against the New York Knicks, which was already a huge step in the right direction.
Fred VanVleet stays even-keeled with the Houston Rockets
Fred VanVleet’s confidence never wavered, despite having to go through a shooting slump, as he charges it to experience. After all, the 30-year-old guard is no longer new to dealing with adversity throughout his NBA career.

“There’s so many games, so many ups and downs, so you just wanna kinda stay in the middle and even-keeled. Grade yourself on the collective season and not every single day,” VanVleet shared his mindset via Lanchard Binkley of Sports Illustrated. “After you get so many years in, you stop reacting to every little thing. You get more experience under your belt.”
Hopefully, Fred VanVleet will have more of these games to help the Houston Rockets get back to the postseason for the first time since 2019-20.
