The Houston Rockets are among the teams to watch out for in the offseason. They are regarded as a team that could pursue a star, with Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers being mentioned in trade rumors involving the Rockets. However, Mitchell is also expected to sign an extension with the Cavs.

There are other names Houston can go after like New Orleans Pelicans star forward Brandon Ingram, but according to Kelly Iko of The Athletic, it won’t come at the expense of talented big man Alperen Sengun.
For example, Houston would love to add a player like Donovan Mitchell but recent reports suggest the All-NBA guard is likely to sign an extension to stay in Cleveland. In notebook 1.0, New Orleans’ Brandon Ingram was mentioned as a player seen in a lower tier than Mitchell and in recent days, rumors have swirled about the Pelicans dangling Ingram in trade talks and in one iteration, a hypothetical Ingram-for-Alperen Şengün swap was mentioned, but the Rockets have no interest, team sources said. League sources said New Orleans also contacted the Philadelphia 76ers concerning a possible Ingram trade.
Sengun can be considered a future franchise cornerstone of the Rockets, so it is perfectly understandable if Houston is not compelled by the idea of trading him for Ingram, who is not just older than Sengun but still has questions about whether he is someone who can guide a team in the playoffs.
The Houston Rockets have a superstar in the making in Alperen Sengun

Sengun is turning just 22 years old this coming July and is under club control at least until the end of the 2024-25 season. He should be part of Houston’s long-term plans.
In the 2023-24 NBA season, Sengun, who was taken in the first round as the 16th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Rockets, averaged 21.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game.
