The NBA is embarking on an ambitious project of recreating the league in Europe. They could receive a huge boost in case one of its most recognized players – Giannis Antetokounmpo – pushes through with his future plan.

The Milwaukee Bucks star said he is willing to own a team that could be part of the NBA Europe.

“Being an owner? 100%,” he told reporters when asked about the prospect of owning a European team.

“If there’s an opportunity that comes across my desk to be an owner in sports, anything, I would consider it 100%.”

The biggest personal hurdle for him is capital.

“In the real NBA, I don’t know if I have that type of money. If I ever come into a position where I’m able to make that decision and it won’t affect my lifestyle, my family’s lifestyle, and it won’t be too risky for my wealth and network, I will consider doing it”, he continued.

Antetokounmpo is currently busy recovering from a calf injury as the world awaits his next move in free agency next season where he is expected to receive huge offers.

    Giannis Antetokounmpo’s sports investment

Antetokounmpo is one of the highest-earning players in the NBA and that’s a given because of his stature and global impact.

He also has a number of business ventures, with the latest is a signature gum in collaboration with Candy Funhouse. He is also an endorse of multiple companies.

Owning a team is not new for him though as he is either an owner or part-time owner of sports teams. First is the Milwaukee Brewers in the MBL as an investor. He also has ownership of the Nashville SC and the Los Angeles Golf Club which he owns together with his brother Thanasis and tennis icon Venus Williams.

The Greek Freak is also among the number of NBA personalities who has stakes on Unrivaled, a female 3-versus-3 league.

He is also a part-owner of Chelsea Football Club in the United Kingdom together with Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian.

Forbes said his current net worth is at $99 million.
