Ice Cube’s O’Shea Jackson Jr. isn’t here for the Kobe Bryant slander, and he never allows anyone to rest easy after spreading hate for the late Lakers star.

The actor and Lakers superfan recently put Gilbert Arenas on notice after the former NBA star’s latest takes on the Black Mamba. Ice Cube’s oldest son made his stance loud and clear through co-host of Arena’s podcast, something that the former NBA star won’t like.
Ice Cube’s Son Threatens Gilbert Arenas With On-Set Interruption for Kobe Bryant Criticism
Arenas recently claimed Bryant was only the face of the NBA from 2008 to 2010, after the Olympics, when the league started pushing the Kobe brand. For Lakers Nation, that is a pretty serious take, and for Jackson, who considers Kobe his hero, it crossed a line.
He took to X and bluntly told Arena’s to keep Kobe’s name out of his mouth, or face the consequences. He wrote, “I can’t stand it. Tell Gil if I see it I’m kicking that fuckin door down and gettin on the mic.”

The “Straight Outta Compton” star has never hidden his devotion to the five-time champion. Jackson once received a phone call from Bryant that lasted 25 minutes. That conversation became his last with the Mamba before the helicopter crash in January 2020.
Meanwhile, Arenas has a history of dropping controversial Kobe takes on his podcast. He previously stated Bryant wasn’t a carbon copy of Michael Jordan, arguing their athleticism and movement styles differed significantly.
While some debates hold merit, his frequent criticism of Bryant never sits well with Lakers fans. And quite frankly, just like Ice Cube’s son, many hate Gilbert for this, but nobody has ever given such an ultimatum.
Ice Cube himself ranked Kobe fifth all-time behind Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, and Magic Johnson. But for his son, Bryant has always been the number one, and he doubled down, making it clear he’ll crash the podcast set if necessary.

Arenas should take this threat seriously because Ice Cube’s older son is no ordinary Kobe Bryant fan. Just to recap, he wore five replica Lakers championship rings at the Grammys to honor Kobe. The same guy who made a custom Sparks jersey for Gianna Bryant. His Kobe fandom runs deeper than many fans who claim they love Bryant.
