Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark turned down an opportunity to be in the NBA spotlight. The second-year WNBA star chose not to participate in the NBA’s three-point contest competition during the All-Star break.
Questions have surfaced in the NBA as to who is the true fave of the Association since the All-Star Break. Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards thinks that title should belong to San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyana. Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics thinks he could be the face of the NBA.
Caitlin Clark called the “Face of the NBA”

The No. 14 pick in the 2005 draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Rashad McCants, argued Clark is the face of the NBA for how she handles criticism.
“THE FACE OF THE NBA IS CAITLIN CLARK,” McCants posted on X. “Yea I said it!!!! She has handled criticism better than the people you consider THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!!!! Caitlin Clark your the GOAT!!!”

McCants doubled on his opinion after seeing the Chicago Sky and Fever move their contests to the United Center in 2025 and how tickets for a preseason exhibition match between the Fever and Brazilian National Team were sold out in 40 minutes.
“Like I said THE FACE OF THE NBA!!! This is the metric,” McCants posted. “Sold out in minutes. Preseason!!! We witness her get blitz by peers, alumni, randoms, politicians, and above all else women!! She never ran from the challenge. Accepted it and rose above it! Goat!”

Indiana Fever star the face of the WNBA

Clark is certainly the face of the WNBA, elevating the game to new heights. However, the NBA is still in search of a star that can hook the next generation of fans as LeBron James’ career comes to a close.
The Association has parity, which can make the playoffs exciting. But there isn’t a player in the NBA that is grabbing headlines like Clark is for the NBA.
While she’s not the “face of the NBA,” she’s arguably the face of basketball to a new fan base for the sport.
