Right now, Morant is recovering from a posterior hip subluxation with multiple associated Grade 1 pelvic muscle strains. The injury happened during their November 6 game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Ja Morant was not able to finish the game and has been out from succeeding games of the Grizzlies ever since. He’s been evaluated weekly and will continue to do so until he is cleared to join the game once more.

Ja Morant on Lakers, LeBron James, and Team’s Defense
It is worth noting that Ja Morant sustained his injury during a game with the Lakers. The Grizzlies won the game against them with a final score of 131-114. It was in the third quarter of the game when Morant, while in midair, got in contact with another player and fell, sustaining the hip injury he’s still recovering from now.
In a post-game locker room interview, Morant was asked about his altercation with LeBron James during the game, after he accused James of charging him.
“He’s 6’8” respectfully,” Morant said during the interview. “I thought it was a charge. He did it and I don’t back down from nobody. I don’t care who you are. My job was just to come back. I got my bucket and I set the tone…take out the top dog and who else do you fear?”
When asked a follow-up question, Ja did not hesitate to say his honest feelings towards the entire Lakers team, not just King James.
“I don’t like them, they knocked me out of the playoffs,” he added. “Then last year we had a game and they came in here and they popped it on our home court when I was in street clothes.”
When asked about his perspective on the Lakers’ approach to defending him, he highlighted how they kept on trying to call a foul on him all the time.
Back at the Grizzlies last game with the Lakers prior to Ja Morant’s injury, he managed to get 20 points for the team, four rebounds, and five assists in around 20 minutes of game time.
