The relationship between Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies was reportedly fractured during the start of the season. His name endlessly gets dragged in trade rumors because of it.

Grizzlies’ Ja Morant (12) reacts as fans cheer after he made a layup during the home opener against the New Orleans Pelicans at FedExForum on October 22, 2025.

Is Morant leaving the team that drafted him? Take it from from the star himself.

“Anybody who, in here, knows me knows I’m a very loyal guy. I have a logo on my back (Grizzlies tattoo), so that should say exactly what I want,” he said in an interview with Marc Stein.

He also showed love to Grizzlies fans.

“Just the love. I’m able to see that not only do I have love back home, but I’ve got it here too. Fans are constantly calling my name and cheering when I score. That’s big time.”

Morant has been in and out of the line up due to injuries. He was also suspended for one game by front office for comments against the coach.

Ja Morant credits coach for successful return

One issue that leads to people speculating about the end of his time in Memphis was when he blasted head coach Tuomas Iisalo concerning his minutes.

That’s a thing of the past now as Morant is now very praiseful of their first year NBA coach. He even credited him for his productive return in win over the Orlando Magic in Berlin.

“That’s just credit to Coach putting us in the best spots possible and then just me being Ja and wind up making the right play whether it’s passing or scoring,” he said.

“We got into a great rhythm early, got a big lead, after that it’s just managing.”

Morant missed six games straight. He did not play in their first game in Berlin. He finished with 24 points on 7/13 shooting.
