With the Memphis Grizzlies still struggling to find their rhythm this season, talks about Ja Morant’s future with the franchise have started to swirl again. But instead of feeding into the noise, the star guard turned to social media — sharing what felt like an emotional message of loyalty to his team and the city.
On Tuesday, just days after serving a one-game suspension following a reported locker room incident, Morant posted a photo series on his socials, featuring highlights from this season. The post came with Rod Wave’s “Take The Blame” playing in the background — a song choice fans immediately connected to Morant’s current situation.

In his caption, Morant kept things subtle, reacting with a bear emoji — a clear nod to the Grizzlies. His former teammate, Yuki Kawamura, now with the Chicago Bulls, dropped a blue heart and salute emojis in the comments.
“Stay the course,” one fan replied, echoing what many in Memphis have been hoping for.
Among those showing love, no one stood out more than Morant’s sister, Niya. She reposted one of Ja’s photos — him in an orange hoodie over his No. 8 jersey, with a serious look on his face — and added a message of support.
“head up 12, we good. bby sis gotchu 5L,” she wrote.
“He just looks checked out”: NBA scout reacts to Ja Morant’s recent play
Since returning from his one-game suspension, Morant’s performances haven’t quite looked the same. In their loss to the Detroit Pistons, he logged 35 minutes but finished with only 18 points — far from his usual explosive standard.

After the game, when asked if basketball still felt as fun after everything that’s happened, Morant’s response was blunt: “No.”
An NBA scout who spoke with Sports Illustrated shared a similar concern about the star’s demeanor on the floor.
“He’s not playing hard like he usually does. He’s not getting downhill like he usually does,” the scout said. “He’s going slower and stopping and passing out of actions. He just looks checked out.”
Despite the rough patch, fans continue to hope this isn’t the end of Morant’s time in Memphis — and that he and the team can find a way to turn things around before it’s too late.
