Detroit Pistons were very careful with Jaden Ivey’s recovery program and that bore fruit as the fourth year guard played like he did not miss a thing. That is also how his star teammate Cade Cunningham describes his performance.

“It’s like seeing him in his natural state,” Cunningham said after the game.

“And he looked good today. Doesn’t look like he’s missed as much time as he has. Credit to his work.”

Cade on Ivey: “He looked good today. I thought he looked really comfortable out there. Doesn’t look like he’s missed as much time as he has. It’s a credit to his work and how much time he’s put into it. We’re all just super happy for him being back out there.” pic.twitter.com/Bte5fBp8Ry

Ivey made his debut during a visit tot the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday. Their hosts were without Giannis Antetokounmpo and Pistons took advantage of that to grab a 129-116 victory. Ivey played just 15 minutes and scored 10 points on an efficient 4/6 shooting.

The athleticism that he showed before getting shut down last January is still there.

He’s an elite athlete in terms of his burst and flexibility, but he is also tremendous at contorting his body and adjusting mid-air to the defense

Bicker staff on Jaden Ivey’s future role

Pistons are on a roll with their 12-game winning streak. Ivey is returning.

Will there be changes in his line up with the 2022 5th overall pick back in the fold? Head coach JB Bickerstaffs says he is not going to rush anything.

Asked J.B. Bickerstaff if the plan is to continue easing Jaden Ivey back into the rotation.

“We’ll just keep making sure he’s comfortable. That’s the most important thing. … We just want to make sure we’re cautious with him.” pic.twitter.com/4LX3zzPY7m

What he is happy about right now is the fact that Ivey hasn’t lost a touch and he is looking forward to utilize his talent moving forward.

“You almost forget just how fast and explosive he is and then you see him out there against people who are generally fast, and then there’s levels to it,” Bickerstaff said.

“His ability to explode from a stop to a start and get to full speed on his first step is remarkable, how he can get to the paint with ease, the pressure he puts on you in transition. All of those things that he does.”
