Doc Rivers tried to bury Jae Crowder’s comments about how his arrival to the Milwaukee Bucks started the team’s downfall as conversation about the team’s future with Giannis Antetokounmpo get more intense.

Crowder played less than two seasons for Milwaukee from 2023 to 2025. That was after his stint with the Phoenix Suns whom he helped reached the 2021 NBA finals but lost to the Bucks no less. It was not a productive time for him there as he was barely used and his averages dropped.
Rivers suggested that Crowder is feeling bitter because of his dwindled playing time.
“Well that’s just a nice thing to say….Usually there’s a reason behind it, usually it’s called playing time,” Riverse said as quoted by reporter Rachel Nicols.
The veteran coach, who won a title with the Celtics in 2008, is under fire this season for the way Bucks’ campaign are going. Antetokounmpo is injured for the third time and their team are sitting two slots outside of a play-in spot.

Jae Crowder thinks he was betrayed
Bucks had plans for Crowder when he was brought in. He was a 3-and-D guy that could complement the Greek Freak.
However, that did not turn out as he probably expected. His interview with Milwaukee Sports Journal to follow on his X posts has a juicy detail about how Rivers has no plan at all for him.
He did not like the way the coach framed it.

“One thing that pissed me as a player off when he took that job and he said, ‘I wouldn’t wish this on his worst enemy. What the [expletive] does that mean? You know? It’s like what are you talking about? You’re taking over a team that’s 30-13,” Crowder told Jim Owczarski in an exclusive interview.
“What do you mean you don’t wish this on your worst enemy? That’s like a slap in the face to us players, if you understand what I’m saying.”
