The Los Angeles Clippers have been getting a huge lift from James Harden as they go on a terrible start to the season and on Saturday, he has to break the franchise record to get a rare win.

Harden put up 55 points to send his team to a win against the Charlotte Hornets. That scoring total is the most by any player in Clippers history. He did that on 17/26 shooting while also dishing out seven assists with just two turnovers.

His performance made people think he is being underrated right now.

You must acknowledge what James Harden has done for the game of basketball whether he wins a ring or not.

I love how much the TL is giving James Harden his flowers, I just wish we gave him his flowers during the peak of his powers. Harden was so good he somehow normalized dropping 40. That was just a regular day back in the time where dropping 40 wasn’t a nightly occurrence. So much…

James Harden is 36 years old in year 17 and has to drop 55/7 on 85% ts to barely beat the fucking Hornets while Kawhi takes his 400th PTO day in 5 years pic.twitter.com/q5gULJ8kTN

James Harden will never get credit for the personal accolades he sacrificed when he went on his ring chasing crusade.

This is a guy who probably sacrificed multiple 30-point seasons and multiple All-NBA spots not caring about #’s and playing through injury.

    James Harden just loves playing

To score 55 points in a game should be tiring for a 36-year-old. He has been carrying the load for the team scoring wise without Kawhi Leonard.

It did not look that way for him after dropping 55 points. Talking to the courtside reporter, he described in just three words how he felt after setting a franchise record.

Harden is obviously the life of the Clippers right now and they will need more of that in games to come. Aside from Leonard, they also do not have Bradley Beal, Bogdan Bogdanović, and Derrick Jones Jr. – all prominent parts of their rotation.

Next up for them are the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers before getting a two-day rest and face the Memphis Grizzlies.
