“Agreed”: Jaylen Brown Agrees To SGA’s NBA DPOY Award Revamp

Jaylen Brown recently showed his support for Jalen Williams’ comments on the DPOY Award. In a preview clip of his appearance on ‘The Young Man and the Three’ podcast, Williams went on to remark how there actually needs to be two DPOY awards instead of one. As per Williams, one award should be given to ‘big men’ and the other one to guards.

It is a sad truth that guards are often not given enough credit for the team’s defense, and it is only the ‘bigs’ who are appreciated for this. Williams is currently the second-highest scorer for the Oklahoma City Thunder, right behind lead scorer Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Jaylen Brown apparently is on the same page as Williams as seen from his comment on the OKC star’s remark.

“Agreed” Jaylen Brown commented through his X account.

Throughout the history of the NBA, only six guards have managed to win the Defensive Player of the Year award, ever since it was started in 1983. It is mostly the big men who have been given this coveted award. If Williams’ proposal is indeed taken seriously by the NBA, it will definitely be seen as a fairer policy.

While Jaylen Brown is known for his incredible numbers in terms of offense for the Boston Celtics, he was also selected as a result of his superb defense. In the ongoing NBA season, Brown is averaging 23.8 points in each game, with 5.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists on offense.

Jaylen Brown’s Teammate Hailed As Key Factor To Boston Winning Champs Again

On another note, former NBA player Jeff Teague, who hosts the ‘Club 520’ podcast, recently remarked that Jaylen Brown’s teammate, Kristaps Porzingis, would be the deciding factor if the Boston Celtics make it to the championship again.

While the Celtics are indeed a splendid team, they are simply dangerous whenever they have Kristaps Porzingis playing. In the ongoing NBA season, Porzingis is bragging about 18.6 points on average in every game played, while grabbing 7.3 rebounds and assisting 1.6 times in each matchup.

In his most recent matchup for the Boston Celtics, Porzingis managed to score 19 points for the team, with 11 rebounds and a single helper, while Jaylen Brown added another 16 points, with eight boards and seven helpers. However, Porzingis has struggled with a heel injury this season, and has had to miss out a few games because of this. In those games, the Celtics did perform as they always do, but it was also clear that they were not as great as when Porzingis played.
