Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics couldn’t get a win over the New York Knicks on Sunday. The Celtics suffered a 110-89 loss against their Atlantic Division rivals. Brown did his best with 26 points and four assists on 44.0% shooting. However, that was not enough for them to improve their record.
Brown had issues with the way the game was officiated. During his postgame interview, he aired his frustration over the advantage that the Celtics had in drawing fouls. According to him, there are obvious inconsistencies with how games are being officiated.
The 2024 Finals MVP specifically talked about how an offensive foul gets called when some defenders are in the shooter’s space.

“I guess they call it 50-50 depending on what,” Brown said. “But I guess, defensive guys just put in their face, and I’m allowed to go up into my normal shot motion. And just because their face is in there, they give (me) an offensive foul. I disagree.
“We’ve sent clips into the league, there’s no — I don’t know. They call it 50-50 everytime inconsistently. A guy shouldn’t just be able to just try to put his face in there and get an offensive foul. If I go into my normal shot motion and if his face is there, that’s on him.”
Jaylen Brown said the Celtics have sent clips to the league concerning players drawing offensive fouls on him with their faces, disrupting his shooting motion:

Jaylen Brown talked about how the Knicks had the upper hand
Jaylen Brown did not sugarcoat why the Celtics lost to the Knicks. According to the star, the team didn’t follow through with the opportunities that were created.
“We created a bunch of open looks. We just got to step in with confidence and knock them down,” the Celtics star said.
Brown said that the Knicks had the same thing. But the significant difference was that they made the most of the chances. Boston has a 1-2 season series standing against New York and they will meet for the fourth and final time this season on April 9.
