Boston Celtics’ ‘The Jays’ will be without Jayson Tatum and naturally, fans think think it is time for Jaylen Brown to step up or maybe elevate his game.

Tatum went down on Game 6 of their series with New York Knicks and is projected to be out the whole season. This means Celtics missing his around 26 points per game. The second top scorer of the team was JB who posted 22.2 ppg last season.
Tatum and Brown are their 1-2 punch on offense. Should the Celtics pour everything on a capable scorer like Brown? Should JB take it upon himself to do more for the team? The 2024 Finals MVP suggests there’s no need for it.
“Not really. I find at times it tries to enter my brain, but not really,” Brown told reporters during media day when asked if he will use the coming season to show that he can do more.

“I feel like I’ve shown that at different points in my career. That’s the narrative or storyline that everybody wants to go with, but I’m approaching the same way I’ve always approached it.”
Tatum is not the only gone from the 2024 title-winning team. They also lost Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and Luke Kornet. The last one to leave was Al Horford who just signed with the Golden State Warriors.
Jaylen Brown keeps faith on who’s left
Celtics will look different this new season and according to Brown, they are in a new era. He is not about trying to score more but becoming a leader for the team that lost its veterans.
“We got five new players that we got to get onboarded and acclimated into the system,” he said.
“So, I’m trying to expedite that chemistry building, that trust building, so you guys can see a really good product when we get to the floor. But some of that stuff takes time. So, we’ll see how it goes.”
He added that they have a “bunch of great guys, young guys” they need to fit into their system and that they got work to do.

New players in the team are Anfernee Simons, Chris Boucher, Luka Garza, Josh Minott, and Hugo Gonzalez. Notable holdovers are Peyton Pritchard, Sam Hauser, Neemias Queta, Xavier Tillman, and Jordan Walsh.
