Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum isn’t expected to play in the 2025-26 NBA season. The organization wants Tatum to rehab from his torn Achilles tendon throughout the entire campaign. However, the star forward has shown signs of improvement. On Monday, the six-time All-Star had a one-hour on-court workout in front of reporters at Seaholm High School, ahead of the Celtics’ bout against the Detroit Pistons.
With his workout, there were questions about whether he’d return to the lineup later in the season. So far, there hasn’t been any confirmation about his potential return. But it’s a positive sign for the franchise and the fans who are monitoring his progress.

Coach Joe Mazzulla was questioned about Tatum’s recent workout and its implications for his recuperation before the Celtics’ game. However, the media did not get anything from Mazzulla, as he offered a candid response.
“I failed medical school,” the coach told reporters.

Even without Jayson Tatum, the Celtics have been competitive. They are second in the Eastern Conference, with a 26-15 record. Still, fans want to see the former Duke star back on the floor with the rest of the team.
Celtics’ Derrick White reacts to Jayson Tatum’s workout
Jayson Tatum’s potential return to the lineup has picked up momentum. Fans are excited to see him back on the floor. Even his teammate, Derrick White, is impressed with the work that Tatum has put in. During an interview with Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe, White expressed his excitement to see the star forward’s hard work.
You know he doesn’t want to watch,” White said. “He wants to get out there and play. But he’s been amazing just supporting. Every game just having him over there has been a lot of fun.”
White confirmed that he isn’t aware of Tatum’s timeline. However, his presence on the bench, constantly supporting the team, has helped Boston.
