Zion Williamson has not had a smooth NBA career so far. The power forward for the New Orleans Pelicans has had a large share of injuries, which have played havoc with his performances. In the last few seasons, Williamson has experienced hamstring woes, and recently missed playing for the Pelicans on Sunday and Monday.
Senior NBA reporter Vincent Goodwill recently discussed this topic on Wednesday in his ‘Good Word with Goodwill’ episode. Goodwill expressed some concern about Zion Williamson’s health, especially consistency-wise. Goodwill also shared some stats on Williamson’s career in 2022-23, pointing out that the star only managed 29 games in total.
“If Zion Williamson is on your team, this is something you’re going to have to deal with for however long he plays,” Goodwill said. “I don’t think we’re ever going to get to a point where we’re like, ‘You know what? Zion Williamson lost the weight, he looks like an Adonis, and now he’s gonna play 75 games, be healthy for the in-season tournament, be healthy for the playoffs, be healthy for everything.'”

In trying to define Zion Williamson’s career till-date, Goodwill stated Joel Embiid’s name as a worthy comparison. Williamson was already battling injury issues, when he most recently pulled himself out of the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers and went back to the locker room. The actual nature of his injury was never disclosed.
Zion Williamson Leans On Fired Coach, Terea Weatherspoon, For Support
It is not easy to be Zion Williamson, a promising star who is battling injury after injury. To add salt to his wounds, fans and critics have been analyzing each aspect of his life, making Williamson anxious about his performance. In light of all this, it is understandable that Williamson would seek out moral support from a trusted person.

After the game against Cleveland on Wednesday night, reporters asked Williamson about former Pelicans’ assistant coach, Teresa Weatherspoon. Calling her ‘big sis’, Williamson had apparently sent her a message days before the game saying that he needs her. Despite her not being in the team currently, Williamson still leans on the former coach for support.
Just before the game could start, Zion Williamson was seen talking to assistant coach, Weatherspoon, sweetly called ‘T-Spoon’. Williamson spoke about how important the coach was, both mentally and for his on-court performance. The power-forward, looked up to Weatherspoon’s advice and encouragement throughout the injuries in his third and fourth year with the Pelicans.
