Jose Alvarado made his debut for his home state on Sunday, and he made sure to bring to the New York Knicks what people loved about him when he was still with the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Knicks acquired the 27-year-old guard from the Western Conference bottom-dwellers in exchange for Dalen Terry and two future second-round draft picks. Coach Mike Brown hopes the acquisition will provide Jalen Brunson with some much-needed reinforcement in the backcourt.

That is exactly what Alvarado did, as he scored 12 points in 25 minutes during the Knicks’ blowout win against the Boston Celtics. He also added two assists, two steals, and one block in his Knicks debut.

Brunson was impressed with what he saw from the Puerto Rican guard.
“He was great. The impact on the game right away was amazing. That’s what we needed. Just happy to see him in the blue and orange,” Brunson said when asked about his new teammate.

Jose Alvarado’s moment with the Celtics bench
Alvarado is known for his sneak attacks against dribblers, and Knicks fans are glad to have this simple yet effective strategy on their side.
That’s not the only thing he is known for. He is also someone who does not back down, no matter who the opponent is.
The full Grand Theft Alvardo experience was on display Sunday, as the energetic guard also got into it with the Celtics bench.

“[People on the Celtics bench] basically said, ‘You’re going to miss.’ And I said, ‘That’s how you get it back, you know what I’m saying?’” Alvarado said, as quoted by the New York Post.
“Who cares about the miss if you get it back?”
That is the Alvarado experience and come playoff time, he might just energize the MSG crowd even more.
