Josh Giddey of the Chicago Bulls has played excellently this season, leading the team to a 6-1 record, the best in the Eastern Conference. It was a surprising start since the team let go of most of their star players. Last season, the team traded Zach LaVine to the Sacramento Kings, leaving Nikola Vucevic as the only player who’s made the All-Star team.

There were predictions that the Bulls would miss the Play-In this season. However, Giddey has given the team new life with the way he’s been playing. The Australian guard has appeared in seven games, leading Chicago with 23.1 points, 10 rebounds and 9.1 assists. So far, the 6-foot-7 guard is the only player averaging at least 20 ppg.

On Wednesday’s episode of “Gil’s Arena,” former NBA star Gilbert Arenas was asked by Brandon Jennings to choose between Giddey and an All-Star guard, LaMelo Ball. Arenas was asked to choose which player he’d like to start a franchise with.

Without much thought, Arenas chose Giddey over the Charlotte Hornets star.

“To start my team with? I’ll take Giddey, give me Giddey,” Arenas said. “The reason you’re giving me Giddey is because, I don’t have to be a smart general manager. If I had Giddey and… let me get [Tyrese] Maxey, he’s gonna mesh with him. He knows how to play with a guy like that.

“I’m liking the Euros a lot more. The Euro point, anything 6’4 and under, watch out.”

While both star guards are important to their respective teams, they’ve had different outcomes early this year. Josh Giddey has been a significant difference-maker for the Bulls. The Hornets, meanwhile, have struggled in their first eight games of the season with a 3-5 record.

Josh Giddey is having the best season of his career. The former No. 6 pick is displaying his brand of playing an all-around game, which has benefited the Bulls. On Tuesday’s 113-111 win over the Philadelphia 76ers, Giddey recorded 29 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists on 52.6% shooting.

The game before that, he had 23 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists in a 128-116 loss against the New York Knicks. With his back-to-back triple-double games, Giddey became the first player since Michael Jordan to record consecutive triple-doubles.

Overall, the former Oklahoma City Thunder recorded his seventh triple-double with the Bulls. With that, he surpassed Scottie Pippen for the second-most 20-point triple-doubles.

Fans are looking forward to seeing Giddey carry the Bulls back to relevancy. Chicago’s next game will be on Friday, against the Milwaukee Bucks.
