“That’s So Far Ahead”: JuJu Watkins On Potentially Breaking Caitlin Clark’s Record Gets Lexie Brown’s Reaction

JuJu Watkins has shown a lot of promise on the court in her years with the USC Trojans, and Seattle Storm’s Lexie Brown heaped more praises on her in the recent episode of Gil’s Arena. Brown was asked if Watkins is capable of breaking Caitlin Clark’s scoring record, to which the 30-year-old hooper had some strong words to say.

Watkins joined the USC Trojans in 2023 after playing high school basketball for Sierra Canyon in Los Angeles. In her time with USC, Watkins has managed to become one of the most accomplished collegiate basketball players out there. In this NCAA season, the 19-year-old holds a powerful 23.9 point average, with 6.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists in every matchup played.

“Oh, for sure. Just the way she scores the ball. And then I feel like she would probably at some point develop a more efficient scoring, more threes, she get to the free-throw line a little bit more. So it’s going to be interesting. That’s so far ahead, you don’t even want to bring that up, like, ‘What are you gonna do when you get back? Are you going to stay all four or are you going to do your three years and leave when you’re eligible?'” Lexie Brown said about JuJu Watkins on ‘Gil’s Arena’.

However, JuJu Watkins’ season was cut short after she tore her ACL in the NCAA second round matchup between the USC Trojans and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Watkins scored three points before crumbling to the floor, clutching her knee and writhing in pain. She was carried off the court by two trainers. The team later confirmed that Watkins will be out as a result of an ACL tear.

JuJu Watkins will be sorely missed in the USC Trojans squad after she tore her ACL in the NCAA second round game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Against Mississippi State, USC won with an impressive 96-59 final score, after Kiki Iriafen chalked up 36 points for the team, with nine rebounds and a pair of helpers. Avery Howerll added another 18 points, with a solo board and six helpers, while Kayleigh Heckel managed 13 points for the team.

The USC Trojans will be heading to the Sweet 16 round to pay against the Kansas State Wildcats, who are coming here after crushing the Kentucky Wildcats in their second-round game. The Sweet 16 round will take place at Spokane Arena, in Washington.
