Jason Whitlock had strong words after a wild scene unfolded in the Phoenix Mercury–Washington Mystics game—one that started with Kahleah Copper losing her wig and ended with a fan getting tossed.

In the third quarter, Copper was coming off the screen when her wig slipped off during a fast break. Chased by Jade Melbourne, she bolted to the locker room mid-play to fix the issue, causing a brief stoppage.
But it wasn’t just the wig mishap that had Whitlock fired up—it was the reaction from security. A fan was reportedly ejected from the arena after Mercury’s Alyssa Thomas overheard them laughing and cracking jokes.
“They removed the fan from the arena because Alyssa Thomas overheard this fan laughing and cracking a joke about it. You just can’t make this up… This is unbe-weavable,” Whitlock said on Tuesday’s Fearless podcast.
He continued, “This is crazy. The fan has to have some rights, has to have some freedom. It’s a communist organization filled with angry feminists who think they’re about equality and equity. No, you’re about being an elite, and if people don’t treat you exactly how you want to be treated, you have them removed from your presence.”
Whitlock didn’t stop there. He took aim at the players themselves, saying WNBA stars have become hypersensitive to criticism.
“They’re the most intolerant people on the planet,” he said. “You have to praise them constantly, or else.”

Co-host Steve Kim also chimed in, doubling down on his previous claim that the WNBA might be the most disliked sports community in the country.
“It’s Too Taboo”: Whitlock Criticizes Broadcasters for Avoiding Kahleah Copper’s Wig Talk
Whitlock also called out the league’s broadcasters for allegedly glossing over what happened on air.
“Listen to the broadcasters. They’re acting like we can’t even speak about what happened,” he said. “It’s too taboo to even reference that the woman lost the wig. So many unbelievable things happening in that video.”

When Kim asked why he keeps watching, Whitlock admitted, “Every night it’s something new with this league. I watch it for the comedy.”
Despite the chaos, Phoenix still came out on top, beating Washington 88–72—wig drama and all.
