Karl-Anthony Towns has just been traded to the New York Knicks, and the media was eager to hear his point of view on the choking incident between Rudy Gobert and Draymond Green. The four-time NBA All-Star reveals that the French center didn’t take it personally and even jokes on what happened whenever he can.

It can be recalled that the incident between Gobert and Green was an NBA In-Season Tournament matchup between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors. In an interview with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, Towns said that Gobert laughs about it whenever the topic comes up.

“(Rudy) laughs about it. He’ll joke around about it. So it’s not like he’s…salty and…gets aggravated. He’ll laugh,” said Towns. “He’ll joke himself about it. I think it just shows the character and also how much he really… He just enjoys what he does and he cares about his craft and he cares about his team. So it shows the teammate he is too.”

Watching the incident unfold in front of him, Karl-Anthony Towns admits that he was surprised and can’t believe that Draymond Green is actually putting his hands on Rudy Gobert.

“To be honest, I just, you know, you’re always here to hoopla and we just always, we just tune everything out,” Towns said. “Like I said, I was surprised when it happened too. I feel like everyone in there was like, ‘wait, is this really happening right now?’”

Karl-Anthony Towns introduces himself to Jalen Brunson

Just days before entering training camp, Karl-Anthony Towns finds himself moving to New York City after the Minnesota Timberwolves traded him for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo. Knowing that he has to bond quickly with his new teammates, KAT narrates how he introduced himself to the Knicks’ top dog, Jalen Brunson.

“The first thing I did, I walked up to Jalen and I introduced myself, told him my name was Karl,” Towns said. “I know it was a struggle for him, so I just wanted to let him know who I was and introduce myself as KAT. So it was fun.”

The first time that Karl-Anthony Towns will be able to suit up for the Knicks would be on October 7 visiting the Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center for a pre-season matchup.  Their season officially begins on the Boston Celtics ring night on October 22.
