Kevin Durant clapped back at fans and detractors criticizing him for getting into a promotion deal with a betting app, despite at some point in the past telling fans to stop gambling themselves. The Phoenix Suns forward did not let the comment pass by and pointed out how he is not appreciated for his “service work.”
In what appeared to be an ironic turn of events, KD eventually also ended up being involved in the promotion of a betting app, particularly FanDuel. Some of his fans did not like this, but it seems that Durant did not like the disappointment even more.
In his response, KD clarified that he was not telling people to stay away from gambling but rather to have accountability for their actions and decisions, regardless of whether they get good or bad outcomes from it.

“No, I tell you to stop complaining about this life that you’ve committed to,” he said in his X post. “When you lose, there’s finger pointing. When you win, there’s gloating about how smart you are about seeing the future. No gratitude to the service workers like myself.”
“I’m sick of it,” he added.

Kevin Durant and Other NBA Players Promoting Betting Apps
Kevin Durant was not the first NBA player to be involved in the promotion of betting apps or services. Los Angeles Lakers legend LeBron James has signed a deal with the betting app DraftKings and has been promoting the platform on social media, in time for the football season.
“I’m excited to be here, man,” Kevin said in the ad video from FanDuel. “[And] show how much bias I have for my commanders, pick some NFL games, have some fun.”
“FanDuel’s for everyday people, man.” he even added.
This was not the first time that KD took to social media and responded to negative comments about himself. In fact, if he is known for one more thing besides playing basketball, it’s taking time to address and answer online detractors.
In the past, Kevin Durant shut down an X user who called him a “team jumper” and criticized his move from one NBA team to another in a short span of time, citing that he could have achieved more and better had he chosen to focus on one team for a longer time.
In his post in response to the user, KD mentioned that “you will never know what it takes to be on this level.” The post has since been deleted.
KD is still currently out for an injury and is expected to continue to miss upcoming Suns games in the next several weeks.
