“History lessons Aren’t A Sign Of Insecurity”: Kevin Durant Shuts Down Heckler With Bold Kobe Bryant Claim

Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant recently shut down one fan who posed a comparison between him and the late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.

Kevin Durant, known for clapping back at his critics and heard on social media, recently blasted back an online heckler who threw shade at him while praising the late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.

“Mamba is one of my idols, I love him but I averaged at least 20 a game in gold medal games. Had a 30 piece nugget with Kobe on the floor actually. History lessons aren’t a sign of insecurity, you choosing to forget is!! Have a Good day Jakob,” Durant responded.

Durant’s response came after an X user by the name of Jacob The Clipper namedropped the former Phoenix star in a comparison with the late Kobe Bryant.

Jacob The Clipper said: “This is why Kob clears KD when it comes to scoring! Gold medal on the line, with the best players in the world. Ball goes to Kob EVERYTIME. He delivers 🤫 Put some RESPECT on the Mamba’s name.”

Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant may have shared the court and even stood side by side as Olympic gold medalists in 2012, but they came from different NBA generations. Kobe entered the league in 1996 as part of the post-Michael Jordan wave, dominating through the 2000s and cementing his legacy well before Durant arrived.

Kevin Durant Urges “Moving On” From His OKC Rivalry

Kevin Durant is hoping to turn the page on his long-standing feud with Oklahoma City Thunder fans, even as the NBA schedule sets up a potentially charged reunion. The Phoenix Suns star, who left the Thunder in 2016 for the Golden State Warriors in a move that stunned the league, has continued to spar with OKC supporters on social media.

The league’s scheduling has only heightened anticipation, with the banner ceremony and ring presentation serving as a backdrop for Durant’s return to Paycom Center. Since the announcement, both Durant and Thunder fans have traded barbs online, with the former MVP recently calling out what he sees as lingering bitterness from the fan base.

“Don’t be greedy bro,” he responded to a fan that wanted him to “seal the deal ten year ago.” “It all worked out for the best. I think most of you Oklahomans will move on after Oct 21st. I can’t wait.”

That tension is expected to resurface on Opening Night of the 2025–26 season, when Durant will be in attendance as the Thunder host the Houston Rockets and unveil their championship banner.

While Kevin Durant has expressed a desire for both sides to “move on,” the upcoming night promises to be anything but quiet.
