Don’t ever introduce something new when you are about to face the Sacramento Kings or risk getting trolled. First it was the Houston Rockets and now, it’s Lebron James.
The Kings hosted the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday for a game made extra special for King James who was honored by the league with a special jersey patch to acknowledge his 23rd season. He will wear this patch in the remaining 46 games (45 now) and then will be authenticated to be inserted into a trading card.
The league scheduled the launch of the jersey patch against the Kings at the old ARCO Arena where Lebron played his first ever NBA game in 2003.
It was a deserved honor for James. Sadly for him, the day did not end with a victory as his team lost to the Kings who the other night beat the Rockets and made sure to make fun of a celebration Houston introduced and people thought was a copycat of their signature “Light the Beam”.

Lebron James reacts to the jersey patch
Lakers may have lost, which is a continuation of their ongoing struggle, but James will not let that dampen his appreciation of the gesture made by the league.
He tried to bring in all the words he can use to express his. gratitude.
“Just super cool, super surreal, super humble, blessed.. Walking here, seeing it for the first time, it was like an emotional moment. Just thinking about the journey thus far. I have an opportunity to be here where it all started,” he told reporters after the game.
He earlier asked for a copy of the supposed trading card through X.
