The Dallas Mavericks suffered another loss and this time at the hands of a team that have no business winning but then Ja Morant’s ego probably will suffer more once he get wind of how Klay Thompson described his trash talking at the end of their encounter.

The Mavs, who recently won against New Orleans Pelicans, fell to the Memphis Grizzlies at home, 96-102, but the battle did not end in the final buzzer when Morant and Thompson confronted each other before going to their locker rooms.
The Grizzlies guard, who was on street clothes as he is still recovering from an injury, was aggressive and put his finger on Klay’s face and double down on this during a courtside interview by teammate Cam Spencer.

He called Thompson a bum on live TV and then proceeded to praise his teammate by shading the Mavs forward.
“Tell ’em who the best shooter in the house was, it wasn’t bro from Golden State,” he said while smiling.
They were separated before things escalate into physicality but Thompson will not let go. He threw savageries towards Morant and the way he is acting.
“He’s a funny guy,” the four-time champion told reporters when asked about tensed moment with Morant.

“He has a lot to say, all the time, especially for a guy who rarely takes accountability. But you know what, that’s for another day. Nothing of intelligent depth. It was really just his running his mouth. He’s been running his mouth for a long time.”
Thompson took a shot on Morant but he also left some good words for him.
“It’s funny to run your mouth when you’re on the bench,” he added.
“It’s kind of been the story of his career so far, leaving us wanting more. We all want to see him out there and do his best. He’s just been letting a lot of other stuff get in the way of that … We need our best [NBA] players to be out there. When you’re a star, it comes with a great responsibility. I hate to see that go to waste.”
Klay Thompson wins this round
The dust settled and looks like it is Klay who got the last laugh. People thought the way he described Ja should be enough for the Grizzlies star to give it up.
He politely called him an underachieving waste of talent more known for antics than accolades https://t.co/B4hrc7p7V4

I’m dying at Ja Morant, he of 7 total NBA playoff wins, talking shit from his regular street cloths attire, to 4 time NBA champion Klay Thompson, calling him a bum.

Ja is one of the biggest frauds of this recent era. Never won shit, never will win shit. Showing up a Hall of Famer in street clothes. Paint your face, Mr. Broke the Code 🤡 https://t.co/ZI5S7O3Yur

This is the perfect Gen Z vs. Milennial beef.
Gen Z: In street clothes, not working, telling someone actually working they are a bum.
Millennial: Always ready to impose their life experience wisdom on whomever, whether they ask for it or not. https://t.co/5yYflc9qJ4

It is now anticipated if Morant will reply to what Thompson just said.
Grizzlies and Mavs will play two more games with each other. First is on February and the next one is on April 1, 2026.
