Dallas Mavericks veteran Klay Thompson recently found himself in the middle of a breakup rumor with new romantic partner, singer and artist Megan Thee Stallion. However, talks of a split were immediately shut down by Megan through social media.

Megan Thee Stallion brushed off speculation that she was breaking up with Dallas Mavericks star Klay Thompson, her newest romantic partner. The breakup rumors started when Thompson declined to answer a question regarding Megan at the Mavs media day.

The singer and artist posted a couple photo, where Thompson kissed her on the cheeks.

“My baby my babyyy 💋,” Megan Thee Stallion wrote on the caption.

Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson’s romance became public in July 2025 after fans noticed Thompson in the background of one of Megan’s Instagram posts and both stars began sharing photos and videos that confirmed the relationship, which they later described as a “meet‑cute” and publicly acknowledged with flirty social posts.

The pair made their red‑carpet debut together at Megan’s inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala, where both spoke warmly about one another and signaled comfort with appearing publicly as a couple while continuing to support their separate careers in music and the NBA.

Klay Thompson Dedicated to Bringing “2011 Mavericks” Mentality to Present-Day Dallas

Veteran guard Klay Thompson said he has studied the 2011 Dallas Mavericks championship run and plans to import that team-first mentality to his new role with the Mavericks, citing the 2011 squad’s cohesion and commitment as a blueprint for success.

“I watch the 2011 championship movie all the time. And I remember that run so vividly,” Thompson said. “They might not have been the most talented throughout that playoffs, but they exemplified what a team really is.”

Thompson described watching the 2011 playoffs and championship film during training and emphasized that the Mavs succeeded because every player knew their role and embraced collective responsibility rather than relying solely on talent.

Now 35 and in a veteran capacity, Thompson acknowledged he is past his peak statistical form but said he wants to lead by example, offer leadership, and teach younger teammates what “championship commitment” looks like.

“They were such a great team…and we can do what they did,” he said in a prior interview. “It’s just going to take championship commitment and a relentlessness we never really felt before.”

As he plays the role of the evertan for the team, Klay Thompson has expressed his desire to be able to lead the Dallas team by example.
