The Christmas Day game between the Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks featured a mini-reunion. Coach Steve Kerr, stars Stephen Curry and Draymond Green saw former Warriors star Klay Thompson. This is the second season since Thompson left Golden State and moved to Dallas.
The Texas-based team was defeated by the Warriors 126-116. Curry led the team with 23 points, three rebounds and four assists on 33.3% shooting. De’Anthony Melton came off the bench and helped with 16 points. The team’s efforts spoiled Cooper Flagg’s 27-point Christmas Day debut.
After the contest, coach Steve Kerr had an emotional admission about seeing Thompson wearing a different jersey.
“I’ll never get used to seeing Klay on the other side. I miss Klay. Wish he was still here,” Kerr said.

For Thompson, things have gotten worse since he left the Warriors. Last season, he made 72 appearances and averaged 14.0 points and 3.4 rebounds. He has struggled to fit into the Mavericks’ rotation this season. In the 28 games he’s played, he’s only started in eight. The four-time champion’s numbers have been worse, averaging only 11.1 points on 36.9% shooting.
Steve Kerr addressed his heated conversation with Draymond Green

All eyes were on Steve Kerr and Draymond Green on Monday during their game against the Orlando Magic. During the game, the coach and star player had a heated conversation on the bench. This led to Green to decide on his own to leave the game and stay in the locker room.
Before their game against the Mavericks, Kerr addressed what happened between them.
“Monday night was not my finest hour, and that was a time I needed to be calm in the huddle,” Kerr said. “I regret my actions in that exchange. I apologized to [Green]. He apologized to me. We both apologized to the team.
“These things, they happen — especially when you get two incredibly competitive people like Dray and me. So, over the 12 years we’ve been together, this has happened occasionally, and I’m not proud of it.”
Fortunately for the Warriors, they still had enought fire power even without Green. The team had a 120-97 win and followed it up with another victory on Christmas Day.
Steve Kerr and Draymond Green have put whatever happened to them behind and are focused on the future.
