Klay Thompson has lived most of his public life through wins, playoff runs, and injury setbacks. But right now, the limelight shifted. This time, it is not about on-court moments. Instead, it came from a few warm words spoken by his dad.

Mychal Thompson spoke with TMZ in L.A. What he shared was not flashy or dramatic. Instead, he praised Megan Thee Stallion for her unique skill that has taken the internet by storm.

The bond between Megan and Klay Thompson became crystal clear in July 2025. The first signs appeared when Megan posted an Insta photo where folks noticed Klay in the background. Days later, Thompson confirmed their relationship with his own post.

Their bond soon moved into the spotlight. In July 2025, the couple made their red carpet debut at Megan’s inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York City. At that event, Megan told PEOPLE that Klay was “the nicest person I’ve ever met in my life.”

Their connection kept growing. On Jan. 19, after the  Mavericks defeated the N.Y. Knicks 114–97 at Madison Square Garden, the couple spent the night playing indoor mini golf. A video shared by celebrity hairstylist Kellon Deryck on Instagram Stories showed Megan dancing closely with Thompson while lining up a putt.

That same week, Mychal Thompson spoke with TMZ. He revealed that Megan still cooks for the family and said he would support a marriage between her and Klay because she is “a very nice lady” and “very smart.” He also praised her barbecue baked beans, calling them the best he has ever had.

He added, “Nobody could ever cook as good as my mother, but man, Megan is a chef.”

The comment was small, but the meaning was big. It showed that Megan is not just a girlfriend. She is already part of the family circle.

Just as the video went viral, a fan said, “Klay’s cooked”

Another said, “Or at least the cooking show on Netflix🙂.”

Another folk said, “AHAHAHAHA! Papa Thompson is a wise man! 😄.”

One more fan said, “His dad is SUCH a little cutieeeeeeee.”

Another fan said, “I’m glad they’re treating her like family ♥️.”

With his dad’s public approval and a relationship rooted in real connection, Klay Thompson’s story has reached a new chapter that feels personal, grounded, and lasting.
