The New York Knicks are looking for a change amid the struggles the team has experienced in the 2025-26 NBA season. Since the New Year, the team has only won four times. They are in the lower half of the league in terms of defense and have had trouble with injuries. Amid the struggles that the team has had, Marc Stein of “The Stein Line” reported on Monday that the organization has named Jrue Holiday as a potential trade target.
Holiday is in his 17th year in the league and is in a veteran role for the Portland Trail Blazers. He’s also an experienced star, winning two championships with the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics. The insider reported that New York has shown interest in the star guard.

“Another concept that keeps coming up: Rumbles that the Knicks have explored pathways to try to acquire Portland’s Jrue Holiday,” Stein reported. “There are at least two clear reasons why New York would have interest in a player who helped both Milwaukee and Boston win championships this decade.”

Stein pointed out that adding Holiday could boost their backcourt. Additionally, it could help New York recruit Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Holiday has proven to be a crucial component of any squad hoping to compete, in addition to winning two titles. In the 2024 Olympics, he played a significant part in Team USA’s bid to win gold.
The Knicks are looking to trade Guerschon Yabusele
Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported on Sunday that the Knicks have had extensive trade discussions regarding Guerschon Yabusele. Siegel mentioned the San Antonio Spurs and the New Orleans Pelicans as potential trade destinations for the French player.
“Not only is Yabusele being involved in trade dialogue, but New York is also exploring the possibility of attaching a minimum-contract player to said discussions, specifically second-year guard Pacome Dadiet, sources said,” Siegel wrote.
Yabusele has appeared in 38 games this season, averaging 2.8 points on 39.2%. It’s a significant drop in production compared to his 11.0 points with the Philadelphia 76ers last season.
