Jalen Brunson is the New York Knicks’ basketball but 27 people wants him to level up.

New York City conducted a poll to select a new mayor and they chose Democratic Party candidate Zohran Mamdani. It was a dominant win by Mandani to beat official candidates Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa.

Brunson was not a candidate but poll officers somehow saw his name get written 27 times. Reports caught up with him on Monday regarding the result and the two-time All-Star has a interesting reaction.

Will he run for the office someday? He is not ruling it out.

“I did see that,” Brunson said of the votes. “At this point in my life, no, I would not consider [running for mayor].”

When asked if he has a platform to run to, Brunson suggested that it is not his focus.

“I’m just going to focus on basketball. We have a great fanbase, it’s funny, it’s cool to see, but I’m going to stay in my lane.”

Hart thinks Jalen Brunson should go for it

New York love Brunson. Should he go for it? His teammate Josh Hart thinks he should. However, he does not think he will do a great job.

He kept it real thought when it comes to Brunson’s capability to lead the public.

In case Brunson run and win, he won’t be the first NBA player and first Knick to become a politician. The highest profile NBAer to become a civil servant was Bill Bradley who spent all his 10 years with the Knicks. He became a US Senator from 1979 to 1997 and run for present in the 2000 election.
