Wilt Chamberlain and Kobe Bryant are the top two leading NBA players with the most points scored in a regular-season game. While Bryant is considered one of the best basketball players of his generation, Chamberlain is known as one of the best offensive forces ever played.

Kobe Bryant was with the NBA for 14 seasons and played for the Los Angeles Lakers from start to finish (2009 to 2016.)

He has won five NBA Championships from 1999 to 2002 and 2008 to 2010. Bryant was also a recipient of a regular-season Most Valuable Player award in 2008. Bryant was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2020.

Wilton Chamberlain played for 20 seasons, starting with the Philadelphia Warriors in 1959, the team switched cities in 1963, changing their name to the San Fransico Warriors. In 1965, Chamberlain moved to the Philadelphia 76ers, staying for three years until moving to the Los Angeles Lakers where he finished his NBA career in 1973.

Chamberlain is a two-time NBA Championship winner (1967 and 1972) and a four-time regular-season MVP winner (1960 and from 1965 to 1968.) In 1979, Chamberlain was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

    Regular Season Stats

Wilt Chamberlain averaged 30 points and 22.9 rebounds per game. Chamberlain has accumulated over 31,000 points and over 22,000 rebounds throughout his NBA career. He has played a total of 1,045 regular season games.

Kobe Bryant, in a regular season, averaged 25 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. He has a total of 33,643 points and 23,419 rebounds from playing 1,346 regular season games.

How do Chamberlain and Bryant Rank?

While with the Philadelphia Warriors, Chamberlain scored 100 points in one game against the New York Knicks in 1962, holding the record for most points scored in a single regular season game. He also holds the record for most games played with over 50 points scored.

The closest person to hitting Chamberlain’s 100 is Kobe Bryant, with 81 points scored in a game against the Toronto Raptors in 2006.

While Chamberlain towers in-game point averages, Bryant is ahead of Chamberlain for a total score of regular-season points in fewer NBA seasons but more games.
