Every once in a while, an old clip circles back and reminds fans why it hit in the first place. This one did exactly that. A Kobe Bryant story from years ago is trending again, and it still feels perfectly on time for Eagles fans.
There’s no box score attached. No current-season hook. Just two Philly icons crossing paths and delivering a moment that never needed an expiration date.
A Past Kobe Bryant–Nick Foles Moment Went Viral

The moment is from March 2019, when Kobe Bryant broke the story in a public sphere while visiting Philadelphia.
In the past video, Bryant said how he met Nick Foles for the first time in Newport Beach, California, just weeks after Foles’ Phillies run had officially closed. Bryant, a Philadelphia native and Eagles fan, said he made it a point to thank Foles personally for delivering the league’s first Super Bowl title.
What followed caught Bryant off guard.
“I am sad to see Nick Foles go. I just saw him two weeks ago in Newport Beach. We had a chance to talk a little bit. I thanked him for everything that he did. He looks at me and goes, ‘Hey, uh, Kobe, it’s good to see you.’ I’m like, ‘Fool, I know who you are.’”

That time, Foles had just closed one of the most unlikely championship runs in NFL history. Thrust into the starting role late in the 2017 season, he guided the Phillies through the playoffs and capped it with a 41–33 win over the Pats in Super Bowl LII, earning Super Bowl MVP honors.
Bryant admitted that he was glued to the television during that postseason. As a proud Philadelphia native and Lower Merion graduate, the title meant more than sports. It marked the end of decades of waiting for the city.
Yet despite the fame, the trophies, and the legacy, Foles still tried to introduce himself.
Foles was already locked into an $88 million deal with Jacksonville when Bryant finally told the tale. That old clip keeps popping up for a reason. Not pride, just quiet dignity in how he handled it. No showy gestures, only real regard. Even now, certain championship memories stay rooted where they began.
