Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving could miss the entire 2025-26 NBA season due to his torn ACL. He suffered the injury last season in March against the Sacramento Kings. There’s a belief that Irving could have a season debut late in the campaign. However, there’s a constant question about his timeline and when he’d potentially return to the Mavs’ lineup.
The Mavericks have prepared for his temporary replacement during the offseason by signing D’Angelo Russell to a two-year, $13 million deal. Recent reports also indicate that the All-Star guard has shown promising development in his recovery. This has led to multiple inquiries about his potential return.
The 2016 NBA champion, who’s been active as a Twitch streamer, recently addressed his return to the Mavericks. He told his fans that he doesn’t have a timeline for when he’d be with the team, asking his followers to stop asking him about it.

“There’s no timetable for when I’m coming back, so please don’t ask me when I’m coming back. Please don’t badger me with all the questions like, ‘Hey, if you’re healthy by November, what do you think about it?’ Please don’t badger me with any questions, guys,” he said in his live stream on Sunday.
“I’m going to be ready when I’m ready. I’m taking the necessary steps to put my best foot forward—and I’m enjoying it. This is not possible without the tribe that I’ve grown up around. And I’m always going to make sure I pay my respect and show love to the tribe that’s grown with me since I was a kid.”
Kyrie Irving took center stage for the Mavericks during Luka Doncic‘s injury and after he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers last season. He appeared in 50 games, averaging 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists.
Mavericks fans react to Kyrie Irving’s update on his injury

Fans are eager to see Kyrie Irving back on the floor. Especially since Dallas has a new Big 3 with Anthony Davis and the No. 1 pick of this year’s draft, Cooper Flagg. However, they’ve grown concerned with the recent injury update from the star point guard.
“Going with the Joel Embiid and Paul George gameplan of never playing again but not telling anybody,” a fan said.
“Oh my I wish him quick recovery,” another fan commented.
“A whole season without Kyrie, Dame and Tatum. Bron gets injured and the ratings will tank into the final layer of hell with this new steaming format,” one fan said.
