Media celebrity Kim Kardashian has not attended any Los Angeles Lakers games this season. Despite being a Lakers fan, it was really surprising not to see her face at Crypto.com Arena in over a year, and fans finally know why.
A Lakers supporter on social media connected the dots after Kim’s recent podcast appearance, in which the reality star revealed she stopped attending games following a viral NBACentel parody post that depicted her sliding into Luka Doncic’s DMs.
Kim Kardashian Skips Every Lakers Game Because of a Parody Social Media Account
Kim appeared on sister Khloe’s podcast “Khloe in Wonderland” and spilled the tea about the whole situation.
A post from the reputed parody X account NBACentel showed a fabricated comment from February last year in which she allegedly wrote, “I want to learn how to speak Slovenian,” in response to the Lakers’ announcement of Doncic’s arrival. Doncic could be seen clapping back at her message, writing, “No, please don’t”.

Many on social media thought it was real, making the situation very embarrassing for the reality star. She finally broke her silence, saying she later found that it was just a parody account, not the original NBACentral.
“There was like a fake tweet or comment on Instagram. I don’t know where it came from, but it was like, ‘Hi, you’re coming to LA. I want to learn Slovakian or whatever language,’” she added.

After Kim’s confession dropped, Lakers fan @TheWestbrookEra put two and two together on X. The fan jokingly attributed Kim’s year-long absence to @TheNBACentel’s viral meme content, highlighting the parody account’s massive influence in NBA online culture.
NBACentel has become very well known in the NBA community for cooking fake posts that look so real to fool even hardcore fans. They’ve gotten everyone from casual viewers to media personalities like Colin Cowherd.
However, Kardashian later got it that her and Doncic’s entire interaction was photoshopped from jump to finish. She expressed serious frustration about how viral the fake post became, asking, “Who comes up with these fake quotes? How do you stop them?”
Things became even worse for her in February of the previous year because, after the parody post, some began to think she was trying to get involved with Doncic, who is already engaged to his childhood sweetheart, Anamaria Goltes, with whom he shares a daughter.
And the most hilarious part? She missed every Lakers’ game that whole year due to that fake post.
