The Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies and slowly growing a rivalry.  The two have squared off in some pretty intense battles in recent memory.  Los Angeles took three of four last season from Memphis, and they’ve split the first two contests of this season.

However, some pretty intense trash talking has surfaced that might show how deep this rivalry is getting.

A hard-fought 128-123 win by the Los Angeles Lakers over the Memphis Grizzlies was the result of a tight game on Wednesday night. Davis and his teammates were particularly happy with this win, as it avenged the 131-114 loss they suffered in Memphis on November 6:

As expected in a nail-biting revenge game, the game was filled with intense moments and trash talk between the players. Although Grizzlies star Ja Morant was sidelined with a hip injury, he made his presence felt from the bench with sharp words directed at Davis.

At one point, after Jaren Jackson Jr. scored on Davis, Morant loudly exclaimed, “God damn, AD. God damn, AD.” The taunting didn’t stop there. Following a three-pointer by Memphis’ Santi Aldama, Morant was seen gesturing towards Davis with a finger movement that appeared to mimic a gun.

Morant also spotted shouting to Davis and the Lakers bench, “Come here, AD… they [the Lakers] can’t f*ck with y’all [Memphis].”

Davis’ confidence was reflected in his performance on the court. He finished the night with 21 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks.

It was another victory for the Los Angeles Lakers against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night. Following the game, Anthony Davis highlighted rookie Dalton Knecht’s potential as the team celebrated their win.
