Three straight losses for the Los Angeles Lakers and they now face the next game without their superstar Lebron James. That could be a good thing according to head coach Doc Rivers.
The latest Lakers injury report from ESPN revealed that James, who will turn 40 next week, is dealing with left foot soreness.
James first experienced the soreness during L.A.’s loss to the Miami Heat on Wednesday.
He came into Sunday listed as doubtful because of the injury, then upgraded to probable in the morning before being downgraded back to doubtful after the team walkthrough a couple hours before tipoff.
Another loss would mean the Lakers will fall off from the play-in spot.
Reddick is not worried. He is more concerned about his superstar. He said the injury report will give King James opportunity to rest.
“He has an opportunity to get four days rest before we practice again, so it could be good for him,” he said as quoted by Dave McMenamin.
It will indeed be a good timing for LBJ to sit out the Portland home game as after that, they will have a three days rest before visiting the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Lebron James playing time issue
James is not getting any younger. He is producing numbers that is beyond expectation.
He had some struggles in in the past weeks and being questioned now is whether he still has something left in the tank.
He showed that he still got it in heartbreaking loss to the Atlanta Hawks with a triple-double output.
Redick himself said it would not be ideal for James to play all 82 games this season.
I don’t know if that’s in the best interest of him and us if he [plays all 82 games]. But if he’s feeling well and feeling good, we should play. But we obviously want to manage that as best as we can.
