Lebron James’ legend continues but his incredible feat of scoring in double digits in the last 17 years has come to an end at the hands of the Toronto Raptors. It should not be a big deal though because the last shot that could have given him 10 or 11 points turned into a game winner and allowed the Los Angeles Lakers to redeem themselves from the loss to the Suns.

James, now on his 23rd season, settled for an NBA-record 1,297-game double-digit scoring streak after getting limited to eight points in the win that ended with a buzzer beater by Rui Hachimura. The four-time MVP was still involved in the play as he was the one who passed the ball to the corner instead of going strong to the basket.
The last time he scored under 10 points was on January 5, 2007.
Speaking post game, Lebron said he does not feel anything at all about the end of his feat.

“None. We won.”

Lakers coach JJ Redick, meanwhile, thought it is a reward by the basketball gods.

Lakers played without their superstar Luka Doncic and were coming off a loss to the Phoenix Suns.
Lebron James is all about winning
Redick doubled down on James’ selflessness and his decision to pass the rock instead of taking the shot.
“I think it’s January 5, 2007, whatever it is, Lebron is acutely aware of how many points he has at that point. And like he’s done so many times in his career,” the coach told reporters after the game.
“I remember him getting ridiculed for it early on when he would make the right play, and his teammate would shoot the game winner. He did it like he done so many times.”
People are not regretting that he did not take the shot that could have been more epic if it went in. Basketball commentator Nick Wright thought he did the right thing.
If LeBron’s incomprehensible 10+ point, 17 year, 1,297 game streak were ever going to end, that was simply the greatest way imaginable:
Sitting on 8 points, tie game, ball in hands, chance to keep streak alive with a make or get to OT with a miss, he… made the right play.…

LeBron has 8 points
3.5 seconds
And an 18-year streak of 10-point games
But he passes to the open man
Who wins it on a buzzer beater
And a 1,297-game streak ends

there is no more poetic description of why lebron is the greatest of all time than him giving up the ball to rui hachimura in the corner to win the game, knowing full well it would be the end of his historic 3 pt streak
when he’s gone, you will appreciate lebron james.
